ARD44 Chris King wheels: The world's first FusionFiber ® road wheel.
The design premise for the ARD44 was simple, a wheelset designed for serious riders who want maximum speed on flats, climbs and corners, an aerodynamic wheel that shines on a wide range of terrains, from smooth pavement to rugged gravel roads.
The ARD44's FusionFiber® rim produces a stable, responsive, and nimble ride while reducing body fatigue and rider strain. Fusion Fiber® produces superior damping attributes because it is not bonded with epoxy resin. Instead, it uses nylon, which gives it optimal strength, even at higher compliance levels, so the wheels hold traction better and ride smoother than any other carbon road wheel I've ridden before.
Unlike traditional carbon fiber, FusionFiber® is recyclable. It can be chipped, heated, and reused to make other products. It also requires much less time and energy to form complex shapes, such as bicycle tires, and the process generates much less waste. All good stuff.
The ARD44 wheelset is aerodynamically designed for 28mm to 30mm tires, and its 25mm internal width and 30.5mm external width fit a wide range of tire sizes, typically up to 50mm. The tubeless, hookless rim design simplifies installation and maintenance while optimizing the interface between the tire and the rim base.
